The look Caleb was giving me right then had goosebumps rising up on my arms. The look was so…reverent, as if he was worshiping me, as I was the center of his world. I felt like it too. Like I was the center of his world and he was the center of mine. Nothing mattered but the two of us.

I felt like I’d been waiting my whole life for this moment. This moment when I finally became one with the man Fate had given me. I leaned up on my toes and kissed him again, never wanting our lips to part as I slipped my palms under his shirt. Any hesitation I’d had about this being too much for him had disappeared the moment he’d placed me on the bed and ordered me to strip. He was in control here and I was ready to follow him wherever he led me.

His arms wrapped around me as he pressed me to him, our tongues clashing in a sensual dance as my palms trailed over the smooth skin of his back. I wanted to see him, to see all of him. I needed him to get out of these clothes. I never should’ve bought these things for him.

“Clothes off!” I panted as I pulled away and Caleb smirked, though his own chest was heaving as he winked at me before pulling his shirt off in one fluid motion.

“Oh,” I mumbled, my brain shorting out at the absolute perfection of him. He was all muscled, but not the kind you saw on gym junkies—and I’d seen enough of those. His muscles were earned from hard-work, just like mine were, albeit smaller. His arms had just the right amount of muscles to hold me up and keep me safe. His pecs and abs were firm and my fingers twitched as I raised my hand up to trace the dips between them.

I frowned when my eyes fell on the long, thin scar across his abdomen. I hadn’t spotted it at first, taken as I had been by his sexy body. It was faded, just a few shades lighter than his skin, but it was there. I hated that he’d been harmed, that he’d been in pain at some point in his life and I hadn’t been there to help him.

“It was a long time ago, my sweet elf. Don’t worry about it,” Caleb murmured and I realized I’d been tracing it back and forth with my fingertip.

I nodded and took a deep breath, letting it out slowly. He was right. It was in the past and it wasn’t going to ruin my mood. On impulse, I leaned forward and pressed my lips to the scar, as if I could erase the memory attached with it and make a new one. Maybe I’d kiss it every time I saw it.

I licked my lips when I pulled back but then I spotted his pale pink nipples, already hardened into nubs and I couldn’t resist.
